Here are pics of a huge mural, plus nine paintings I am doing for my daughter's elementary school Burnt Bridge Creek....the theme is 'A Journey Through Literacy' and I am very proud to be a part of such a large scale professional piece of public art.also there's a silent auction competition that was raising proceeds for Children's Justice Center in Vancouver, WA, and much to my glee, I placed first right behind best in show amongst some great local artists.
Thank you to all of those who have been supportive through this project, and have helped encourage me with your kind words, enthusiasm and collaboration!
|I am a working artist traditionally familiar with painting, drawing, airbrush, silkscreening and photography, but am using encaustic wax and doing huge murals these days. I get bored with the same medium all of the time and do alot of experimenting with combinations of materials. I love old things, surreal images, surprising elements, children's literature (Grimm's Fairy tales, Aesop's fables) and the grey area where beauty meets macabre. I also love: bright colors, urban decay, distressed looking items, found objects, art dolls, old school animation, lomography, anything printed, DaVinci, and Jeremy Geddes art. I like to paint big, and my newest pastime is ATCs and trading with other artists. I would like to learn to weld enormous metal sculptures someday.|
